How Bexel supported PGA TOUR with a custom fiber solution

BURBANK, CA – April 1, 2019 – Bexel, an NEP Broadcast Services Company, helped PGA TOUR reach a new level of efficiency by deploying a fiber video distribution rack during the 2019 Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.Bexel configured a custom solution for PGA TOUR based on their requirements to move video signals over fiber at The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, with the added benefit of being compact enough to ship in a portable case, and deployed within minutes by onsite crew. The fiber video distribution rack Bexel customized for PGA TOUR featured 80 paths to connect the NEP ESU mobile unit to the other mobile units in the TV compound by employing MultiDyne fiber hardware.

The fiber video distribution rack is a powerful and accommodating solution that adds significant capabilities and infrastructure to any show. It can be flexible in size based on the quantity of feeds needed to distribute. The rack is compact and modular, making it an ideal solution for productions that need to distribute video signals within a truck compound, such as political conventions, press conferences, university and professional sporting events, and live event broadcasting. In previous years, PGA TOUR transmitted video signals using the conventional coaxial cable, but this greatly limited transmission distances, and was more costly and time consuming due to its weight and unreliability. Bexel’s fiber rack simplified the tournament’s operations by removing the need to deploy excessive cable runs and making the production more efficient.Bexel is at the forefront of harnessing fiber optic technology for the benefit of their clients in a way that will enhance performance, while being cost effective, dependable, and versatile in even the most challenging conditions. In addition to the fiber video distribution rack, Bexel also offers many custom fiber solutions including their Fiber Booth Kit, which supports video, audio, intercom, and network signals over a single-mode fiber cable that can reach over thousands of feet with no signal degradation.
