Purchase Adds Cutting-Edge Slow-Motion Replay Technology for Sports and Live Broadcasts
May 8, 2013 – Burbank, CA –Bexel, a unit of the Vitec Group’s Services Division and a leading worldwide provider of broadcast services and solutions, has purchased two Dreamcatcher systems from Evertz, a leading global manufacturer of broadcast equipment. The acquisition serves as a cornerstone for Bexel’s new 4K solutions, which provide turnkey packages that will be available to augment any major sporting event or live production broadcast.Dreamcatcher represents the next generation in slow-motion replay technology and offers real world 4K benefits. The product provides enhanced storytelling capabilities by allowing a production team to capture an event from all angles, without ever missing a moment of action. When 4K cameras are used, Dreamcatcher’s zoom capability lets broadcasters zero in on the action and extract an HD image from a larger 4K frame. This high resolution zoom ability allows broadcasters to enhance the narrative and definitive coverage of close calls at sporting events. When used in conjunction with Evertz’ patent-pending tracking feature, the 4K zoom functionality enables a totally unique replay experience. Dreamcatcher’s proprietary Mosaic function synchronizes multiple angles that can be played out with the press of a single button, allowing a captured event to be shown from brand new perspectives.Tom Dickinson, CTO of Bexel, comments,
“Bexel is a leader in building server systems for a myriad of sporting events, and the addition of Dreamcatcher is a natural expansion of our offerings – and it’s ready for 4K now. Dreamcatcher will be available to our customers as part of a customized solution that will deliver an elegant, streamlined 4K package that can be integrated into a sports production easily, and play a key role in providing 4K replay for live events. Dreamcatcher is a great storytelling tool that employs state-of-the-art technology to allow broadcasters to use 4K to its fullest extent on an HD production.”
Evertz’ Joe Cirincione, VP Sales–U.S. Sports and Entertainment, who has been on over a dozen shoots including the Super Bowl and Daytona 500, says,
“Dreamcatcher allows an audience to experience an event like never before, and we know that it will make a perfect addition to Bexel’s offerings. We have enjoyed a long and successful relationship with Bexel and we are very pleased they have chosen Dreamcatcher.”“We engage many Evertz products in our systems and solutions,” concludes Dickinson. “This is a logical expansion for Bexel and the Dreamcatcher’s features augment the sports experience in exciting new ways, and for live content replay and multi-screen output for award shows as well as other live events. We’re thrilled to add this to our fleet of solutions.”
