July 16, 2015 - St Andrews, Fife, Scotland - Golf has been played on the Old Course at St Andrews for over 600 years, but when the 144th Open Championship returned to the storied course, it was covered with the latest in 21st century technology. CTV Outside Broadcast, one of the largest independent OB Companies in Europe, supported the event and provided the feed for the BBC, ESPN, TV Asahi, Golf Channel and IMG. In their quest to deliver the best possible coverage, CTV turned to Bexel Global Broadcast Solutions (Bexel Global) to rent two Sony HDC-4300 camera systems for the tournament.
“Our new Sony HDC-4300 cameras were a perfect fit for the British Open,” says Neil Coles, head of business development for Bexel’s EMEA division. “The camera is extremely versatile, and offers superior HD quality from its 4K UHD sensors. CTV is primarily using its 6x super slow motion capability at 300fps, which will greatly enhance the viewing experience for the home audience.”
“The Sony HDC-4300 is the center piece of our greater camera system expansion plan, which is underway with significant inventory growth,” notes Tom Dickinson, CTO of Bexel Global. “We’ve been very pleased with all of the test shoots we’ve done, and we’re very excited that our first delivery of HDC-4300s is heading off to the British Open to support CTV. With Bexel’s offerings now a fully integrated part of Bexel Global’s EMEA division, we look forward to providing our European customers with an even higher level of service and support.”
