August 26, 2014 – New York, NY - Bexel is celebrating its sixth year supporting ESPN, and its 16th year backing CBS, at the US Open Tennis Championships. The two-week Grand Slam tournament takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, in New York City, August 25 through September 8.

“The overall operation is going incredibly smoothly,” says Johnny Pastor, director of Technical Services for Bexel. “Experience is on our side, and we have been able to dial in the needs of ESPN, as well as support CBS as the host broadcaster.”

Bexel is providing an HD control room for ESPN and two HD control rooms for CBS’s international feeds. Every feed from every match is being recorded and ingested into 22 EVS XT3 production servers with six logging stations, and all of the mobile units are connected to the server network via fiber. Three Media Manager Stations equipped with nine EVS XFile2s determine media distribution to Avid Unity shared storage and other entities.Bexel has 12 engineers and staff on site supporting the US Open for its full run.

“We started our load in on August 11, and we won’t strike until four weeks later. The US Open is definitely one of the longer annual sporting events on our calendar,” notes Pastor. “And we always give it everything we have.”
